When you backfill, should you keep the soil moist, maybe like mud, to get the maximum surface contact. Is backfilling with sand a good idea ?

Great video. However I needed to hear about geothermal heat pump pond loops in a cooling dominant climate. It’s also a heating area in mountains of southern New Mexico so both cycles would be used. But more cooking load than heating load. How do I calculate the system? Is there a website that has charts. Thanks

My nephew had one of these put in his new house when he built it. It keeps the house 72 degrees in the hot Texas 105F heat. You need about 1/2 acre of land to lay out the pipes. I don't know how the return on investment would be on such a unit.

There is an easier, more useful, and better way than digging all of this just for the sake of extending pipes, and it can be used anywhere on the ground under special conditions according to each region, but the idea needs support from anyone whom I might make a partner in this innovation.

Heating water requires expensive energy which be a great energy draw. Having the assist of earth heated water is a boon. After Geothermal is installed a backup of solar energy to provide for the clothes dryer there and lights (pc and phone charging) makes sense.

You can check each phase of the motor at the connector for the motor at the control module with a DMM. Each phase should have a resistance that is less than 20 ohms and they all should be relatively close to one another. Also check the continuity of each phase with respect to the motor casing. Each phase should read O.L. or infinite meaning that there are no shorts in the motor winding to the metal casing of the motor. Finally, it's the control module (bell end) that usually fails and not the motor itself.

I wish north Texas HVAC companies would embrace this technology . I moved into a house built in 1963 some 30 years ago . I put the best windows and a white metal roof on but nobody would install geothermal. Now I can't afford it !

I've been running open loop for 32 years. Love it, but on my second WaterFunace.

Not sure why the seller of a water source heat pump brand would stick all of these warnings into a video to SELL a system......trust me, it's not complicated at all. If you have a water well without high mineral content, you're good to go. If you do have mineral issues, isolate the heat pump heat exchanger with an external brazed plate heat exchanger.....if it becomes problematic, it's easy to clean or replace. You DO NOT need to bore a separate well for the discharge water. If you live in sandy soil, just dig a hole and plumb the discharge to it. I used a 30 gallon barrel dug into the ground, and it works flawlessly ( I never said there'd be no work involved..) If you're in tight soil (clayish....) you will have to be creative. If there's a ditch nearby, do that. The building inspector I dealt with didn't care less...(nothing in the code specifically for spent water....) THE MAIN TAKEAWAY from this video is showing the MAJOR flaw in air source heat pumps. When an air source heat pump gets into the lower 30's it has to defrost the coils (and even warmer in some conditions..) and THAT is how heat pumps got a bad reputation....massive electrical resistance coils energize (think hair dryer...) and man, the electric meter spins like you wouldn't believe!!! Does not happen with these units, unless the system faults. You are required to have that back-up in emergency situations. Don't let all of this techno gibberish make you shy away from this EASY tech....I have two, and they both perform flawlessly...to the point (and this is funny. Duke Energy has replace my electric meter THREE times because they were convinced from an audit, that I had to be cheating.....I'm not!! It really is that good!!

How exactly do you adjust the blower cfm? I have the thermostat mounted on the wall, but the option to adjust the blower is not there? Do I pull it off the wall and plug it in somewhere behind the panel?

I have the Climatemaster tranquility 27...I highly suspect my installer plumbed my hot water heater wrong. I have looked my owners manual over and it really doesn't show anything on that. Is there someone that could help me? They have the domestic cold water supply piped into the DWH out, and the DWH in goes to my bottom drain inlet on the water heater. I don't think that's right or is it?

We have both a gas furnace (emergency heat) and a conventional heat pump. I'm finding out that at about 40 degrees and below it is more economical to heat the home with the gas furnace. The heat pump doesn't deliver hot air through the ducting (warmed air, but not hot) and the spouse is happier when it is cold outside to have the gas furnace heating the home (happy wife. happy life!). Just sharing my experiences. Mine may be unique.

Cost $30,000 to install a Geothermal unit in my house. The unit lasted 3 years before the pipes underground broke a leak. Found out a couple days ago that my unit is screwed until I dig up the pipes to find the leak. My house got the unit in 2019. There’s no compensation, I have to pay to fix it myself. It’s in the middle of summer, my house is currently 86 degrees. Great experience so far

I get how this works but why aren't "vents" installed at high points? I had a "guy" come out, stuck his little needle in there, added about a cup which upped my pressure and left. The system is full of air and I want vents!!! I can easily add a fill valve. This system worked for 11 years before this came up and I'm not call'in the "guy" back.
